Apologies And Some Exciting News…

Ok, we’ve been here before but this time it’s different. Why? Well, I started a new job, a lot of the work I’m doing was new to me and getting my head around stuff was time consuming. I’m getting there now so things aren’t on top so much.

Anyway, enough of that. “What’s the exciting news?” I hear you say. Well, I’ve been in discussions with someone regarding the magazine and I’ve convinced them that getting involved with TKnC is the way forward. The person in question is a fantastic writer, an excellent editor (he won an award a few years ago – he told me to say) and has been a friend of mine most of my life.

So, it is with great pleasure that I announce Col Bury as co-editor of Thrills, Kills ‘n’ Chaos. *loud cheers and clapping*

Down to the finer details. There are stories in the inbox and everyone will get a response as to the availability of their story. We will be publishing fortnightly so there will be a wait before your story is published. There will be a different format when stories are published so the mag will take a different look. Comments will be open so please do leave some feedback if you read a story. Writers are sensitive souls and feedback/reviews are great medicine.

We’re hoping to start publishing stories within the next couple of weeks so keep an eye out. If you’re not already following us on Facebook and Twitter please do. Links are top left under “Follow Us”.

We will also be looking into doing a short story collection later in the year. This will include longer stories and will be an “open” submission. Details of this are in the “heavy petting” stage so more information will follow.

That’s it. Thanks for all your continued support.

Submissions are still open…

Upcoming…

To kick off the grand re-opening of the magazine, and as a mark of respect to Thrillers, Killers ‘n’ Chillers, I will be publishing stories from the editors of the original TKnC.

Up first will be best selling author and founder of Thrillers, Matt Hilton, followed by Col Bury, Lily Childs’ and (the one and only time I will do it) one from me. All stories were originally published as an Editors Special for TKnC 2 years ago.

I will then be publishing brand new stuff on a regular basis.

Please show your support and leave a comment or two. Words of encouragement/advice are what make us better writers.

Thanks…

Let’s Do It…

OK, I’ve thought long and hard and I’m now happy to get this machine going again.

The novel is coming along nicely and other projects are in the pipeline, both writing-wise and with the day job, so I’m in a good place. I’ve also been doing some ‘freelance’ proofreading/editing which has been keeping my eye in the game.

Therefore, THRILLS, KILLS ‘n’ CHAOS is opening its doors again.

Please, please, read the submissions page. Stick to those guidelines and you’ve got a great chance of me reading your story. Send me your best 1000 words and you’ve got an even better chance of being published.

Let’s do it…

Submissions Are Now Open…

Hi all,

It’s been a while, but it is with great pleasure that I announce Thrills, Kills ‘n’ Chaos is now open for submissions.

Please fully read the SUBMISSIONS page and if your story falls within those parameters then send it over.

With HALLOWEEN fast approaching I would love to see some good old fashioned horror stories, too. Ghost stories, slashers, haunted houses, vampires, werewolves – you get the idea.

Write them, edit as best you can and send them to tkncsubs@gmail.com

Good luck,

David.

NEWS…..

First I must apologise for the lack of activity with the mag. I don’t like it just as much as you but it is what it is.

Work, family (and sporadic writing ) have been full on for the past few months. Some things have to give when it gets like that and the magazine has suffered – badly.

So, what’s going to happen?

Well, here are my plans…

1. I’m going to be giving the place a dust down and maybe change things up a bit.

2. I’m going to clear the whole submissions inbox and start afresh. Everyone with a story in there (if they’ve not already got fed up with waiting and sent it elsewhere) will get an email.

3. Submissions will re-open in time for Halloween and we will take it from there.

I know some folk will be a little pissed off with me for not getting back to them regarding their stories but life is just too hectic sometimes and I’d like to extend my full apologies to them.

Thank for your support and an announcement will be made shortly regarding submissions.

Peace…..

Apologies…

Sorry 1

You may have noticed a complete lack of activity around here for a month or so. For that I’d like to apologise to everyone who has a story in the inbox. It may look like it but I’ve been being ignorant. More the fact that I run the magazine on my own, real life has been hectic and any spare time I’ve had has been used up with my own writing. I’m hoping to have my first novel finished soon and that has taken precedent over submissions – a bit selfish, I know.

So, my plan is to start tackling all submissions and getting a reply out to folk within the next 2 weeks. If you’re successful your story will be published quite soon after that.

Best of luck…

News and Updates…

News_765x350px

Hi everyone and thanks for stopping by.

You may have noticed that the mag hasn’t been running as I had planned and my aim is to rectify that ASAP.

Life has been pretty hectic but I’ve also been hit by the writing bug – in a big way – and I’m hoping to have the current WIP finished by the end of May. What originally started out as an idea for a horror story has twisted and turned it’s way into a crime story but, as it involves sleepy little villages in the middle of nowhere, that could change again. I was aiming for around 30-40,000 but with the new twists and turns that could end up a lot longer. It’s something I’m really excited about as I’ve not had the ‘bug’ like this for a while.

OK, magazine news. The inbox is bursting so for the time being I’m going to close submissions until I’ve read, replied and scheduled. I’m hoping to get word out to writers within the next 2 weeks.

As always, thank you all for your continued support. It is appreciated more than you will ever know.

Oh, by the way, the magazine is officially 1 year old today as that was when it was registered with wordpress BUT I will be celebrating it’s first birthday on 18th April which was when the first story was published. Incidentally, it’s my youngest daughter’s birthday on that day too. All presents will be greatly received.

Have a great weekend and keep your eyes open for a new story going up soon.

Cheers!

Update…

Comments

Just a quick update to let writers/readers know that comments are now disabled on future posts.

I understand that folk are too busy and get fed up with logging in and verifying themselves to leave a comment. The magazine is doing really well with hits and views and all stories are averaged in excess of 100 views.

Thank you for your continued support and long may it continue into 2014.

Cheers…!

Updates…

Hello readers and writers.

The magazine has gone from strength to strength since it opened back in April/May.  In six months it has garnered many followers and over 8000 views, which I think is amazing for a new magazine.  So, it’s a huge thanks to you guys for supporting the mag during the past months.  Long may it continue.

As from today the magazine is going to be posting a new story every 3-4 days.  There are still a few stories awaiting publication so I’m hoping to clear that backlog ASAP.  Then *drum roll* submissions will be opening again.

scary-pumpkinsSpeaking of submissions, if anyone has a horror story within the 1000 word count, please feel free to send it over.  I’m looking at doing a Halloween special and posting a horror story every night for the week up until Halloween.  Send stories to tkncsubs@gmail.com with HALLOWEEN SUBMISSION in the subject line.

Gritty Santa.112I am also going to be looking for Christmas themed stories for the month of December.  Christmas isn’t always a joyous time of the year.  The badder the Santa the better.  All genres are encouraged.

So, if all the above goes to plan, I’ll be looking at opening submissions within the next 2 weeks.  Keep an eye on the SUBMISSIONS page.

There are also some great ideas for future projects, which will include competitions and (time permitting) an e-book or 2.  Those will all be for 2014 and more details will follow.

Thanks again for your continued support.

David.
